Labor Day Weekend will be filled with festivities, food and fun. Friday will have Bison Burgers, Ice Cream Sundaes, Inflatable Bounce House and a Movie. Saturday will start off with Cinnamon Rolls, Face Painting, Tie Dye, Hair Colors and Horseshoes. Followed by Tacos in a Bag, Water Wars, a Pinata and more Ice Cream and Movies. Sunday, we'll be serving Breakfast, bring back the Bounce House, and end Sundae Sunday with some Live Music with The Country Shindig Band. We'll have wristbands available for extra special deals on Bike Rentals and Mini-Golf all weekend long.

Adventure awaits you with many exciting attractions and activities in the Sioux land area and at the Sioux City North KOA. Stay a day, a week, a month, or stay all season. Several of the area attractions can be combined into a 1-day adventure. We will be glad to make recommendations, give directions and share our experiences of traveling in the Sioux land. While staying at Sioux City North KOA you can make use of the extensive trails that start in front of the park. It is a wonderful place to walk or ride a bike. Check out McCook Lake for some great fishing and bird watching. There are opportunities for dining, shopping and golf just minutes away as well as museums, historical sights, nature centers and gambling.

North Sioux City
Start your visit in North Sioux at Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve, a 1500-acre park featuring one of the last free-flowing segments of the Missouri River. Adams homestead was established by Stephen Searls Adams in 1872 and it includes the family's original farmhouse, a historic barn and miles of hiking and biking trails.

North Sioux City is the Las Vegas of the Siouxland area, featuring more than 13 video casinos. If you love video gambling, you will love the excitement of North Sioux City.

War Eagle Monument
The Siouxland area refers to a tri-state area, IA, NE, and SD. You may see all three states by visiting the War Eagle Monument. War Eagle is located in Sioux City, IA, high on one of the bluffs. As you stand in IA you may look across the Big Sioux River and see the valley of North Sioux City, SD and across the Missouri River to see South Sioux City, NE.

Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center
Your entire family will enjoy the hands-on exhibit area allowing a look at Loess Hills geological formations, native plants and animals. Dorothy Pecaut is located on the Loess Hills Scenic Byway.

Sioux City Art Center
A beautiful three-story glass atrium, featuring a hands on gallery for children and a 900 piece permanent art collection. Traveling collections are also on display.

Trinity Heights
View a 33-foot stainless steel statue of Jesus, a 30-foot statue of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of Peace, in an outdoor park featuring gardens and walkways. There are over 30 artworks depicting Christian history. St. Joseph Center houses a life-size wood carving of the Last Supper.

Sioux City Public Museum
Built in the early 1890's from pink colored Sioux Falls quartzite, the Pierce Mansion houses artifacts from American Indian life and the early settlers of the region to present day.

Orpheum Theatre
Recently restored, this 1927 Rapp and Rapp theatre showcases a variety of entertainers, symphony concerts, Broadway shows, movies and conferences. Tours by arrangement.

Argosy Casino
Three decks of gambling fun on a riverboat, where you can play slots, video slots, craps, roulette, blackjack, poker and Caribbean stud. Open twenty-four hours. Located on the Sioux City Riverfront. Comedy Club, entertainment and dining also available.
Sergeant Floyd River Museum and Welcome Center

Visit the Sergeant Floyd River Museum and Welcome Center. Housed inside a diesel inspection ship that floated the Missouri River for 50 years as the flagship of the US Army Corps of Engineers construction fleet, is a museum displaying the history of the Missouri River. One of the largest displays of scale Missouri River steamboats and keelboat models in America also makes its home here. The Lewis and Clark expedition is highlighted also.

Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center
Lewis and Clark and their group of explorers traveled through the Siouxland area. Experience their travels by visiting the Lewis and Clark Interpretative Center where you may choose to be one of the explorers facing his challenges as you visit each exhibit. Traveling with children? The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center is an educational experience.

Sergeant Floyd Monument
Sergeant Floyd, the only one of the exploration party to die during the Lewis and Clark expedition, was buried on the bluffs overlooking the Missouri River. A 100-foot tall white stone obelisk marks Sergeant Floyd's gravesite. The obelisk was the first registered National Historic Landmark in the United States.

Lewis and Clark an American Tradition
A permanent exhibit of Lewis and Clark mural paintings is on display at Southern Hills Mall. It is the largest collection of original Lewis and Clark paintings measuring 296 feet in length.

Sioux City Riverfront
Enjoy a stroll or bike ride along the riverfront. Take a break on one of the benches at the Rose garden or under the pavilion. Many events occur on the riverfront each year, such as Rivercade, Artspash, Ice cream socials and musical presentations. Visit the

Many turn-of-the-century buildings have been renovated to house unique shops and restaurants. Activities such as Awesome Harley Nights and Beach parties light up the night on Historic Fourth Street.
Loess Hills Scenic Byway

This unique landscape embraces the eastern flank of the Missouri River Valley. Touring the Loess Hills will provide an educational blend of the past and present. Automobile tours offer ridge-top views of the valley, the Loess Hills woodlands, prairies and other natural landmarks. The Loess Hills are formations of silt found only in parts of Missouri, Iowa and China.

Ice Cream Capital of the World
Lemars, IA is the home of Wells' Dairy, makers of Blue Bunny Ice Cream. Wells' Museum explains the history of Ice Cream and Wells' Dairy. After your tour, enjoy a treat in the 1920's style Ice Cream Parlor.

First Election West of the Mississippi by US Citizens
On August 22, 1904, Lewis and Clark camped near present day Elk Point, SD. It was there that Patrick Gass was elected to replace Sergeant Floyd, who the explorers had just buried in Sioux City, IA. A Lewis and Clark Wayside Exhibit commemorates the election in pictorial plaques of life along the Trail and historical flags of all nations who have governed their area.

Dutch Windmill Visitors Center - Orange City, Iowa
A Windmill stands 76-feet tall, with a dome weighing five tons and vanes weighing over 7 tons. Orange City is the home of the Tulip Festival in May. Also located in Orange City is The Old Factory, located in the old wooden shoe factory, where you can see a demonstration, live or video, on the art of carving wooden shoes.
